Happy mother’s day

In our community of friends who are currently experiencing or have recently been impacted by homelessness, you will hear the term "mom" used quite frequently. This nickname is not bound by the typical blood or family relations, nor does it follow age rules.

Momma/Ma/Mom are terms of complete endearment. These names serve as a way to affectionately refer to others who care for, support, and love, as well as those who provide a safe and trusted space. Thinking about this serves as a reminder of the ways in which we are supposed to interact and care for one another, as well as confirmation of the trust necessary to build a functional community.

Today, we celebrate all of you who are "mom" to someone else. May you know how much you are loved and may we acknowledge and learn from the ways you chose to love, include, care for, and appreciate others.

Happy Mother's Day!
